ive used pcs for a long time, and my main desktop and everything ive ever done since I was about 6 has been on a PC.. except a real early mac, but that doesnt count cause it was early 90s..

anyways, why should I get a powerbook or another mac laptop for live gigs instead of a pc laptop? Is it just personal preference, like the desktop thing in essence, or is it more stable? I know thats probably subjective, but i'd like some unbiased opinions on the matter.

Not necessarily MORE Macs outhtere, just more NOTICABLE (because of the glowing apple logo). Actually, PCs, if well maintained and kept off the internet, are equally stable as Macs. That and the fact that there are many more PC plug ins and Live runs much better on PCs, it is a safe bet that you will be happy with a PC.

The new Intel Macs are too new to tell if they will preform that much better than PCs... we will know soon enough.

As far as laptops being less stable than towers, not necessarily either.

Personal preference, I guess. Some like the feel of OSX, some like the feel of Windows.

I have a PC laptop. I'm very happy with it. If you are happy with your PC there absolutely no reason to switch to a Mac that will cost you at least 50% more for the same horsepower.

Well, you won't get the cool glowing Apple logo that absolutely screams that what you do is art.

Regardless of the opinions on the endless mac vs. pc debate, I feel that apple hardware is generally higher quality than most of the stuff on the PC market (IBM being the notable exception).

I work with PC's and Mac's and both have there strong points. I perform with a IBM laptop. I love it.

the way i see it, there is only one Apple and in turns one Mac platform, but for PC you have IBM, Gateway, HP, Sony, Toshiba, etc... So for PC you have more options and only a few of these options are actually well made computers. The rest are just crap. so when you go out to buy a PC laptop, you really have to dig in and find out as much as possible about the options you have available for the money you want to spend. This is a real headache.
With Apple, you can just go anywhere and say, I want a Mac, you can rest assure that it will work perfectly out of the box, without shopping around and Googling specs.

If there was only one PC computer platform, let's say only Toshiba made PC computers, then the PC vs. Mac arguments would be way more solid and more valid. I thnk Toshiba makes good gear. if Compaq were the only manufactures of PC laptops in the world, then i would get a Mac, hands down... anything with the Compaq logo is bound to be a piece of shit, and that's why they are so cheap...

I personally do not have any loyalty towards one platform or the other. i'm a PC user but that's by convenience, because I have been using PCs for a very long time. i take pride in the fact that I can set up and tweak a PC to get best out of it, so i do not have any major problems that will prevent me from finishing my work.

For all you PC-user losers, how can you refute the fact that Mac laptops are clearly superior?!?! Don't you remember in 1996, it was clearly shown in the documentary "Independence Day" that a Powerbook can take down the network an entire alien species ready to destroy the Earth for no apparent reason?



I bet (if Live was around back then) Jeff Goldbloom could have been DJing WHILE taking down that alien network off the same Powerbook...so chew on that, PC-lovers!

On a serious note, I prefer Sager Notebooks. Solid, great build, uses excellent parts, and performs like badass. My PC laptop is almost two years old and still rocks. In fact, I could probably take down a not so advanced alien network....

I would be very happy if I could just rid my garage off mice with my Sager
