waiting to hear back from tech services regarding why I can not get Live 5.03 to start on my Mac. I am reading the posts here regarding Live 5 and thinking to myself hmmmm maybe I shouldn't have gone and purchased this program. This is agitated by the fact that for the past 3 days I have been e mailing tech services back and forth trying to get the program to start. Although some people seem to have complaints about particular problems I think to myself at leasat they can get the friggin program to start! I didn't have this problem with Live 4...and its even worst having to wait for an email which still might not solve the problem when all you want to do is start working on a new project.......sheese!!!!

Hello funkeprez,
It´s a relatively rare issue that one can not start Live at all.
We´re doing our best to find out why this happens in your case.
In most cases the VST folder or or insufficient permissions are the reason.
Did you try to create a new user profile and start Live from this profile?
best,
Christian

have you tried checking the crash logs? using the info supplied in the crash log and google it is amazing how quick these things can be sorted out sometimes.
its worth while being really systematic and if you are out of your depth then copy the whole crash log and send it to ableton.
try looking at macosxhints.com if you don't understand what you are doing.

That sounds odd. I personally would remove the program and all traces of it and any other versions completely and do a fresh re-install.

Sorry to hear about this. I ran 5.0.3 on 10.3.9 for the longest time and didn't have this issue.
Tell us the rest of the details about your computer specs...

when removing the rewire portion of live and all the sudden it starts working then obviously one of your rewire clients and live aren't getting along. so maybe it's not lives fault but another programs fault? but then maybe it is lives fault. but you seem far too certain that this is an ableton problem when it could be a problem with your system or another program couldn't it?
not pointing the finger back at you I'm just saying you're way too angry at ableton when you aren't even sure if it's their bad.
