i would like clips to crossfade in the arrangment view just by overlapping them in the same track. this would save a a lot of time playing with volume envelopes until it sounds smooth.

hi
i would also like to a cross fade function in the arrangement view .. also i would like to see a "vertical" cross fade from clip to clip that are in the same track in the session view - maybe even if it was an option in the "follow action" section in the launch box.
anyways - one way to crossfade in the arrangement view is to have two clips in the session view that are each assigned to the crossfader - arm both tracks for recording and then record into the arrangement view whilst you are controlling the desired cross fade in the session view.
you then have the two tracks crossfading - if you a wanting to crossfade two clips form the same track then you have to place them into two separate tracks to begin with for the purpose of crossfade recording and then record/resample them into a third track and place the recorded crossfade mix back into the original track - hope im making sense!!
only problem i found is that recording into the arrangement this way records over all other tracks in the arrangement view- even if the track activator switches are switched off and even if the other tracks are not armed for recording!!!
so i had to open a new set - import the two tracks i wanted to crossfade/record and then saved it so i could use it in the original set......
anyways- i have only been using ableton for 2 months so maybe im going the long way around things.
gonna post this up on the bugs/problems page along with the question why i cant adjust the length of a loop in the arrangement view and then undo it !
i had a long audio clip in the arrangement view and was trying to find a nice loop in it - i was being anally precise and using the grid at 1/2048 - found the loop which i wanted to drag into the session view and accidently hit my keyboard - hitting some key which changed the loop length only to find that i could nt "undo loop length"!!!
any suggestions man??
