how do you convert an als file to a wav or cda file that is able to play on a cd player (since just burning the als file to a cd will not play on a cd player)?

you have to mix down the track. i don't think the als file has any music in it itself. i think it is the bones, so to speak, of the track. ie, it tells live where to put what sounds and how to make them sound.
to mix down your track you have to first have a paid/working copy, no demo mode. under file, there is "render to disk". select the entire track (ctrl-a) while on the track part (can't think of the name of it right now) and use the render to disk.
consult your manual for more info on rendering to disk.
