basically, I was cranky so I decided to take it out on beta software...

There is a plugin from http://tobybear.de called N2CC, which translates notes in a range (velocities or pitches) to a MIDI CC value. I loaded eight instances of this into the Plogue Bidule VSTi, each with a different MIDI CC, and then ran arp'ed notes into the track where Plogue was running, then out from Plogue into the loopBe1 midi yoke, which I had set up for automation. Then I assigned the resulting CC's to base notes on a scale plug, some transposition knobs on a scale plug, the type of arpeggiation being used, the rate of the arp'ed notes, and control the launching of the scenes (containing MIDI clips acting as the source of the notes).

So the note ranges were being mapped to different CC's which in turn were able to manipulate the note ranges which were producing the CC's which in turn....

It was really very interesting, the music was completely self generating and modifying itself autonomously. Then the screen video became distorted in a thin band across the middle of the screen, and the band started to grow out towards the upper and lower edges of the screen. Live prompted that an error had occurred and it had to quit.

I'll be sending the bug report when I get to a faster connection, but I think what happened is that my computer was becoming conscious, and it wasn't psycichally prepared for that :)
