I cant figure this
i am new to this as you can tell
this is all in session view which i personally prefer to call clips view
i have recorded an improvision on keyboard as a clip and have been jamming to it without recording any more than the first clip
now i am ready to build the rest of the song by recording another clip and then another etc.
I insert another midi track and when i record the new clip my other clip in the same line doesn't start I have to manually click it as well which of course doesnt work.
I dont have looping on and dont want ti on. I want to do one pass so how do i record a new clip when it is not looping the first clip
I want to start recording on a new clip while instantly playing back another on the same line (verse in this case) or others as i build the drums bass guitar clips up.
It has to be easy.. surely. I tried clicking the arrow where i have called it verse which normally plays back all clips in that line but that only plays things back and doesnt record to my choosen clip in that line.

ok, so hit master 1 and you'll hear that line right.
its looping and you wanna record something to go along with that.
now, on master 2, pick an empty box and arm that vertical row with the little record button on the very bottom...master 1 should still be looping...deactivate that vertical line (hit the yellow #) so you dont get feedback or echo, you should see the bar moving with your plucking or whatever youre doing (you know its armed)...hit an empty box on that vertical line (the little square inside one) and it will start recording...then, if you want it to play WITH master 1, copy that box and paste it into the master 1 line, OR, copy the tracks you want playing from master 1 onto the master 2 line and you will have it with and without your new audio...

yicks no not really so i have to record on a different line or master as it is called then mov it back..
I DON'T want to loop either
i called master 1 verse in my example.
I will have to try this but it sounds really in natural or intuative.
I would of thought i could record to the same master line
by truning some option on so all start playing at the same time while 1 or more tracks in the same line or master play back all together.. is this too much to ask for or can this be done ?

You can record on the same scene as you're hearing.

EX. In Scene view mode. I create a drum track. i title it drumkit. it is a box on scene 1, controlled by Master 1 button.

Now, i hit the play button on drumkit box only, arm an audio track next to it (also in scene 1), highlight that box, and hit the circle (record button). Again, I deactivated the new track so I dont hear IT while I am recording, only the drumkit.

if you want many tracks in one scene to play, hit the master play button and record onto a new scene...again, it doesnt really matter where you record to, it will be there and you can move it later.

EDIT, a horizontal "master" line is called a Scene i guess (to clarify).

1 question is this requiring looping on and wait for one pass then start to record ? if so i suppose i will have to live with it

well, thats the way I do it...there may be a better way...

edit: to be perfectly clear, you can really hit record right after you hit play...that way you have 1 loop to get your hands ready...
