Help Help Help - looking for dirty dirty bass

Post by djadonis206 » Sun Feb 26, 2006 5:31 pm

I'm so bored with my plugs - Albino and Oddity

I need a plug that will give me Virus like DJ PREACH style dirty dirty bass

anyone know a hot plug that can come through like that

Reason's chill but It's just not getting dirty enough

Do I sound like a Britney Spears song or a newbie with 4 post's

either way - I'm really bored with my plugs and I need a new one that's just sick

oh fyi - if you have some hot reason patches that'd be great - my tuned down saw patches just aren't giving me what I want :(

thanks

bass: imposcar, minimoog or moogmodular from arturia, trilogy and absynth.
or if you have some more money reaktor. korg legacy has some nice ones too.
or buy a waldorf pulse for cheap and go for the deepest analog

try crystal it's FREE by http://www.greenoak.com

and tweak, use filters.(cyanide2 is good for a *dirt* sound also FREE) if you can't come up with a nasty bass in crystal or actually most other synths, then improve your tweaking. knowledge of synhesis and production.

ahhh, and if you want to spend some money Tassman by AAS. very nice.

Thanks for the reminder - I have reaktor 5.1 and ABL

I need to open Reaktor more - everytime I open it I get that "glitch" vibe

I use ABL on my own stuff all the time but my partner is somewhat of a 'purest' and he can't feel the abl

what about Zeta? Any bass in that?

Imposcar sound nice actually

interesting...more suggestions - someone down the road may be able to use the suggestions

I'm opening Reaktor now

OK REAKTORS SLammin

I'm using the 2OSC right now

but I think I'm going to have to do some tweaking to get that just raw song

god I feel like such a newbie but Preach drops this monster bass on The Slave to the Beat remixes on Terminal - M

Not trying to recreate the pattern but I'm looking for that sound - a lot of heads use it but as usual Preach rocks it

adonis...head on over to http://karmafx.dk/ and DL the karmafx synth. Its excellent. Theres no manual so I'd be happy to get you up to speed on it...lemme know. Its really simple once you understand a couple things about mod routing.

couple of mp3's:

Try putting some distortion on your bass. Either directly or create a send with a filter/eq followed by dist so you can choose what frequencies to distort.

Yeah man if you have reaktor, stick with that it will do everything you could ever need - the thing is a beast, and if you havent already get yourself to the user library and check out some of the user ensembles - there's something like 2500 of them

reaktor can seem so complicated you can forget it can really nail the basics too

BTW - you got Operator? You can do wonders with that + lives FX too (saturator is a monster)

i have a korg ms2kr. it puts out some really gritty bass. ever think of going with a cheap "vintage" synth?

For bass I like some MS20 (legacy), Minimonsta, Ultra Analog, FabFilter Twin. I always like to layer as well. Other than that, get your eq on, add a pinch of compression and if you want throw on some trash or other distortion.

Any cheap old hardware synth--even a Casio--run thru guitar pedals sounds beastly. Fuzz/distortion and wah/filter are obviously cool, but a lot of the unruly & forgotten lo-fi ones that tried to imitate synths on guitar tighten up really nicely when you give them a clean synth input. ZVex, Electro-Harmonix, LoveTone, and even Boss can all shred speakers when fed enough harmonics. They need a gate or a lot of gain automation, though.

yeah Operator is a F*&#in madman . Get some crazy distorted bass sounds with it. then add a EQ4, a couple of saturators and vinyl distortions to the chain. It doesnt get much dirtier than that...

Why not get some nice grungy samples and throw em in simpler?

Hollow Sun comes to mind for old analog stuff, free...
