first off let me say i love live or rather what it could be.
i have supported it since the early days when all i really wanted was
to be able to render a session. i have high hopes for 5.2 and will cease to support live if this does not deliver. i use it as a basic daw mixed with its added features and like everyone yearn for a stable environment to produce.

current problems without even scratching the surface(i'm scared to really start a real project for fear of reliability)

just with running one drum loop with 2 of abletons internal effects
i get pop and crackle, something as rudimentary as this.

second, after recording a couple of demo tracks with no effects when i go to render it while it is calculating maximum amplitude it freezes at 98%and goes no further.

this mixed with random crashes.

i am running this on a imac g5 2.1ghz with a firebox.

i do have a couple of questions.

could i install version 4 on the same computer and run it without it interfering with version 5?

is there a setup or template that would turn off all of the bells and whistles(until i needed them) so i can focus on it being a basic stable multitracker?

does anyone no if ableton lite is more reliable. i am willing to sacrifice all the bells and whistles and track counts for something bare bones and stable.

thank you.

Yeah you can run multiple versions without issue. I would be aware that you will have problems if you create in 5 and try to open it in 4 though.

Also you say you have the problems with Live's internal fx. Which ones and what settings do you have in them?
