CPU problems with toshiba laptop & live 5.0.3

Laptop- 1.6mhz cpu. 256 meg of ram
Soundcard- Motu 828
O.S Windows X.P
Version- Live 5.0.3
Hi everyone, hope you're all very happy....I'm having big problems transfering projects created in Live 4 to live 5. In 4 the project in question reached no more than 20% CPU. In 5 , I kid you not, it's cranking at a whopping 110% (literally). Nothing has changed except the version of live. the project still works fine in live 4.
Also, if i add more than about 4 fx in live 5 it spits the dummy. In 4 I could add a tonne of them. When i tried it out on a newer 1.7 M processer machine, it worked fine. Anyone know what's up? CHEERS.
