Anyone have expearance with the Korg Legacy Collection?

Post by Mike Goodwin » Sat Mar 04, 2006 9:30 am

I have just found myself in the position of picking this little bundle up for a good price and would like to have that MS20 in my setup. But I wonder if it is just silly when I already have Reaktor and the imposcar just to name a couple. I think I am going to go for it but I just wondered if anyone here had any insites that may not be obvious from a web page. I am trying the demo and it sounds very nice. Very tempting.

Yes, the MS20 sounds great, and I like the MS20FX as well to run audio through. Polysix and Cell are also worth it imo. I don't use the controller though, at least the keyboard, the knobs aren't bad for a twist... my 5 year old daughter loves it!

Edit: Mike - I see you're in TO, what's this package going for now? I paid CDN$260 in December.

ya that is the price that im looking at. Seems to dam good to pass up. I would want to try and get the M1 as well a little down the road. I am playing with this collection now and I have to say that it sounds very good. I dont like the wavestation much for what I do for myself but for the more comercial stuff that I am trying to produce for advertizing it would be very handy. I think I am going to pick this one up.

Is there a online resorce for more patches for the ms 20? Not a deal breaker but im just curious if Korg are into that kinda thing.

Korg has some MS20 patches for download at their korg user site. Not a lot but some good stuff. Haven't checked patch arena myself.

man went to pick it up today but they did not have the MS20 controller with it  It would not have been such a piss off if I had not busted my ass to get to the shop. They are going to see if they can get another controller sent out to them but I am not holding my breath. The controller was much of the attraction to this package. Very dissapointing. Still thinking of picking it up none the less but alot less excited about it.

Yeah, you have to get the controller. It is where the fun is at definetly.
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

stop stop people! I have been trying to resist this deal since the price dropped...my girlfriend wasn't too thrilled about a novation SL-25 magically showing up at the pad :D I couldn't get out of this one so soon.. anyways...

does anyone know if Korg has mentioned anything about compatability with the macIntels?
no prevailing genre of music:

YAY! Korg Canada came through on there word and got me one of the last MS20 controllers in the country! :) so for under $300 bucks I got a midi controller, a MS20 a Polly Six and a Wavestation :!: SWEET.

Playing around MS20 as a polyphonic synth is wild. Setting up unison with detune on PWM or saw waves so dam good. It gets kinda cpu heavy but no wonder. It sounds very good to my ears.

I love these VSTs. They're so functional for using Live as well. With the Legacy cell, you can write patches that remember all your MIDI routings as well. So, by using the problem change that goes with clips, you can have each clip remember the MIDI routings that go wtih the program/patch.

Anyone know if they are going to make a Universal Binary for the Legacy collection...and if so, when?

Dam i had not even figured that out yet. That is fantastic! It is rare that I get to like software more and more as time goes on.

I want to get the Legacy Collection as well, but for around the same price I can get the Gforce VST collection with Imposcar, MInimonster, Oddity, Melatron all for $300 and the Legacy Collection w/ controller for the same price. I have the SL 25 and it has all these VST's already mapped with very clever and multi pages aswell.

I will eventually get both but what sounds like a better deal the Legacy Collection or the Gforce collection?

Geeze that is a tuff call. I own the imposcar and it is very nice. The minimonsta and the oddity are fantastic. The quality all the korg stuff is very high as well. It depends more on what you produce and what your going to use more. What instruments suit your music and so on. I love the minimonsta but almost never use it. Where I love the MS20 and use it all the time. Bother are fantastic deals.
