wow that's lame

so they're saying dont expect their products to run on intel for at least another 3 motnhs

especially after being told by an ableton that there really wasnt much to it

maybe it's different for their stuff but I dont see why

I'm surprised, but I'm dissapointed.

The b4II is a MUST HAVE for anyone using organ, it's THAT good!

I give up on electric piano.......sounds superb, but it's really buggy and they are not going to update it.

Luckily, logicpro has good versions of these so I don't loose out....but even though live seems to work fairly well with macintels, I won't be using it much for a few months since I can't use any of my favorite plugs (b4II, elk piano, vintage warmer, track plug):(

I still cant see the justification in an intel mac purchase, especially with Merom just around the corner.

Until then, my G5 and PPC software will run just fine until the entire NI transition is made, which would be a much better time to upgrade, IMO.

I'm glad I bought the G5 iSight iMac over the intel one...otherwise I'd be spending more time furious over the ass-dragging of software developers than I would be making music.

Looks like this summer or September.... hope I can hold out.... was planning on June....
In Intel's Timeline they wrote:Mobile Platform
Intel is developing a mobility-optimized, dual-core processor based on next generation micro-architecture, codenamed Merom, targeted for introduction in the second half of 2006. The Merom processor will work within the Napa Platform that is planned to launch in early 2006.

i guess youre right. In retrospect, there is NEVER a good time to buy a computer, because another juicy offering will be on the table in a couple months...especially with apple computers.

you got that right

Here is what I did because of some bizzare windows issues......been needing to have a mac.

Went to fry's (it's a west-coast usa thing) got the imac with the 3 year replace/loaner warranty.....I'm not buying any more computers for a long time.

Got more ram.....apple sucks.....I hate you apple and you stupid marketing....

bought logic pro.....it integrates nicely with protools....which I need

got a motu traveler

got an icontrol

I'm done. It's not "perfect" but it's self contained. Even though I need to learn allot......I'm guessing about 3 years  , I have been alble to do just about everything I need to do.

3 years, no money.........that'a fact jack. I hit the wall

Now, live is still important to me, and I will always use it on the pc, but for now I'll just have to be patient and wait for "real" plugs to become available before I even register it on this computer.

Why did you buy their computers then?

Apple have low RAM requirements, but require third party vendors to certify their RAM, I've always thought that it's a matter of two things, most people don't require the amount of RAM we audio types do, and it's a concession to the RAM manufacturers for them having to jump through a hoop for Apple.
Consequentially I've never had bad RAM though.

you want regret it for a bit, highly-ist recommended,
don't get me wrong i absolut LOVE Live, but it's two totally different apps, Logic and Live... all you ever need (ok plus a decent audio editor, like peak, e.g.)

sorry to jump in here, i just LOve both apps for what they are...

and native, hmmm... yeah they are a bit slugish lately, their bug fixing is not quiet up to date... i had to swopp to some older versions even, which performing better then new ones... GRRR...
i am a big fan of B4 and Kontakt.

so we will see... how long it will take them.

i guess the whole transition to the mactels, will take at least another 6month if not more... untill you can fully claim back your used system...

Personally I wouldn't trust NI to deliver before you've got the software working on your computer and maybe not even then.

Komplete 2 owner here, everything works fine for me. Reactor 4 was only really stable towards the last couple updates, but 5 is stable out the door.
The main thing is never go by the projected date of delivery of any software manufacturer, most won't even publish a timeline, honestly I think that's where NI screw up, other developers simply say they "are working on it!"

NI has great ideas, great stuff but fuck they need support.

they need number crunchers.

a lot of these small development companies have all these great innovators but not enough work horses.

sorry, but I just think that the idea of selling the computer and ALWAYS requireing more ram than any model ships with really sucks.

Just sell the GDed thing for 1999 instead of 1699 and ship it with max ram......what the difference.?
