Assigning controllers, and missing parameters -- help!?

A two-part question, both related to Arturia's CS80 VST and Live 5.0.3;

In Sonar I can ctrl-click a CS80 knob to assign a midi controller knob to it. In Live, I can ctrl-click and get the dialog but it ignores all incoming midi controller data.

If I turn midi map editing on and unfold the parameter list at the bottom of the screen, then move the CS80 control I'm interested in (in the GUI, I mean), it gets automatically selected in the parameter list at the bottom and then I can assign a controller to that.

Here's the two questions;

1. Have I just found the longest way to do this, or is this the only way to do it? The parameter names are mostly very cryptic!

2. Not all of the CS80's automatable parameters appear in Live's list. This is a real problem for me, because among the missing ones are ones I'd like to be able to control remotely (for example, Ring Modulator: Attack). Any idea why some are missing?

Thanks,
Gwydi

Maybe obvious, but did you turn on monitoring for the track in question?

Look at the following thread (amongst others): http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35027

You see Mr. Hoffman, I am not the only deploring live's 128 parameter limit!!!!

Please do act on it! and auto-oscillation of params also...
