Will Live ever be a step sequencer?

I love Live...but I feel like sequencing samples is only the tip of the iceberg. The real power of live will be harnessed when you can trigger Step patterns in Live (and of course this brings in the inevitable VSTi conversation). However, Live and Reason could probably work out a way that Live could trigger different patterns in Reason. Or at least have a Live Step sequencer control the synths on different channels in Reason.

Sounds very cool. That will answer the drum machine conundrum! What do you think of my proposition that we Populate Live tracks with Midi Data instead of just samples and it uses Reason synths on different channels when a track is selected? That would call for new versions of Reason and Live working in unison...but I think it would solve everyone's problem!
Midi Clips Please

I've been frustrated with Reason because the pattern sequencers are too primitive to arrange whole songs live like you can in Live. I think it would be great if you could load midi clips into live. I just got onto the forum to try and figure out if it was possible.
Otherwise I'm stuck trying to convert all my parts from Reason into Wave bits and doing it that way. Kind of a drag and you lose the ability to manipulated Reason while the parts are playing.

what i'd really like to see would be the ability to bring Live's audio into Reason for processing. The new Reason 2.5 effects are wicked sounding and the mad scientists modulation factor has gone way up with the CV merger splitter in the mix.
Couple of ideas in for Live:
A: Quantization of automation breakpoints.
B: automation loops that can be attached to clips
have yet to check out the link above so ableton may be two steps ahead of me.

Some of you may already no this, but, on the PC at least, there are several ways to control Live from a midi sequencer. Check it out:
1. Use a hardware midi sequencer.
2. Use Logic, Sonar, Cubase SX or whatever you use with:
a. ReWire MIDI.
b. MIDI Yoke.
3. Use CONSOLE as I explained (tried to explain

) in a previous post.
- Using CONSOLE in Live you could use Fruityloops or something similar.
- Have Fruityloops or whatever you use send MIDI back out to the MIDI input that Live is using.
- You can do this with MIDI Yoke.
4. Use Project5 with the free MIDI Out DXI from rgcAudio and have it send MIDI output to Live's MIDI input.
- Using this method you can sequence Live using Project5's Synchron32 MFX. It works well.
There's probably other ways too, but the point is that you don't have to wait for Live to have the feature. You can have this functionality right now.
