opinion is not fact

I'm fed up with people who feel that their opinion, belief or view, should not be criticised. If it is not fact, if it has very little empirical support then how can some people validate their views. They can't, it is sheer ignorance and obstination. Therefore I have the right to criticise anyone who shares their view in the public arena; it's freedom of speech.
Sorry for having to bring up issues like this but I feel it's important to get the message across.

You know what bothers me more at the moment is that I have to filter through 'mood dampening' posts to find ones that are interesting, light hearted or informative.

if one wants to demand free speech then one must be willing to stand up to the way that speech is judged by others.

Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don´t do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around
Facts are living turned inside out
Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things
Facts don´t stain the furniture
Facts go out and slam the door
Facts are written all over your face
Facts continue to change their shape
I´m still waiting...

Weeeeell, a general theory of media is that currently we have moved from a journalism of reportage to a journalism of assertion.
And by the way, the exercise of power has moved from coercion to seduction.
...go on, ask me one on sport...

the problem with the internet is the serious lack of credentials.
even though some say weighing peoples opinions on personal reflection is a fallacy it is often done and holds much water in an argument.
you cant tell who the hell is talking to you online most of the time. anyone can say whatever the fuck they want and believe their opinion is just.
