can you help me with my new (ripped off) idea?

Hi,
After seeing Tehn and Daedelus using the Monome (or "the Box") http://monome.org/index.php?m=0010

I saw that I would be able to do the same thing using Live (I'm still using 5.01) and an LX-1. I thought I could do this using the Session View and putting repeated instances of the same clip in the same column though starting from a different point in the clip so that if they are played one after another they would play the original piece of audio. Then using the LX-1 i could interrupt and "play" the pattern from different places.
My problem has been with the follow actions though since each clip (the edited ones) repeats itself a couple of times before moving on. Thereby making the whole process musically useless.

I hope this was clear enough, and any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,

do you mean you are having probs setting up the follow actions right ?
if you want the clips to play sequentially, find out the length of the clip, then input that length as the follow action length and select 'next'

or do you know how to operate follow actions, just your idea is glitching or not working as you'd like ?

sorry I'm a little confused

oh and maybe your clips are not exactly 1 bar in length, so it might be an idea to change quantization to 16ths and see if that helps, tho 5.01 might be a little buggy in this respect if i recall correctly

Why do you need to use follow actions at all ?
Keep one master clip of the original piece of audio.
So you have play entire clip as an option.
Duplicate the (for example drumloop X times in that column).
Change the loop points for each clip.
Set quantise for each of the clips to a value you find musically useful ie:1/16 1/4 1/8 1bar etc etc.
Go into midi learn mode.
Assign buttons on the LX-1 to trigger each clip individually.
And jam away dude  .
