Different kind of stutter problem.

Hello,
I have searched all the forum topics on this and found that there was not a post on the specific problem I'm experiencing. Everything works fine for about 20 min then the crackling starts. these are relatively small songs, 8-10 clips maybe 5 seconds each with some effects (avoiding reverb). I have tried a few optimizations to my os, "XP home", turned off graphic effects, turned off unnecessary services. The cpu meter seems around 10 - 40 % during the songs. The stuttering will stay even if I switch live "als" (songs) files. I can get it to stop by turning off live and starting a new instance. I have 2 instances running both will crackle until I shut them all down and start a new one.
SPECS: HP pavilion ze 1201 Laptop.
CPU: Athlon xp1400, 1.2 gz
RAM: 256mb not ddr
Sound Card: standard on board hp via
OS: XP Home
LIVE VERSION: 2.0.3
Thanks,
Brian
