Stylus RMX

I am having trouble getting any kind of loop to play. It plays fine from within Stylus, but when I try and put it into an arrangement it only seems to play individual parts of the loop. The first thing I made sure was correct was the selection of 'multi' over 'kit' as I initially thought that was the problem. I just cant work out how you set up the outputs in Stylus/Live so that it will just play a straight groove.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Hello, Stylus RMX is fat! Did you put a midi file on the track? You already do that correct?

Hi,

This is the process I have been throught so far:

1. Create MIDI channel
2. Add instance of RMX to the MIDI channel
3. Created MIDI clip in MIDI channel
4. Drawn a MIDI note the length of the MIDI clip.

Over the bar, it plays what appears to be a couple of hits of the loop but it is nothing like it sounds in RMX. What I have noticed is that different keys on my MIDI keyboard play what sounds like the different components of the loop.

have you tried switching from slice mode to loop mode? It's on the bottom right of the instrument when you are in loop browser (maybe on every page). Its sounds like it's just playing a sound from a slice rather than triggering the whole loop

have you gone to their site and looked at the videos.
There is one there specifically for setting up in live
from what i can gather you play it and then capture button gets turned on to capture it then drag it to a midi track
If it is a multi you do this with each multi to it's own midi track. Maybe i am wrong I am about to get RMX but have seen the videos.

You need to darg the midi clip from the blue box on Stylus RMX into your midi channel, not just create a note, that would play one slice of the loop. You really should watch the videos that came on the tutorial disk!

a side not for you rmx guys i just bought it and in live when i drag a midi file and play it in live I want to change some of the sounds by dragging a midi note up and down like the tutorial where they ise logic to do this. when i do this on live it doesn't play the slice as i move it up and down the scale like logic does in the vid. I have to guess what sound and then hit play before it plays the sample I am moving.
Can you make live work like logic in this way. It's a pain not hearing the sound when i move the midi not up and down.

cheers

Not sure if this helps, but...

the version of Live that I have doesn't allow for dragging an RMX midi file into Live. Instead I have to drag it to my desktop, or a folder, and then get the midi file in Live. Dragging it won't work....

so when i load the midi file in Live, everything works fine, dragging notes up and down to have it play different slices in Stylus.
