ambient rule-based track for you

Post by kp » Fri Mar 24, 2006 9:18 am

I made "I think It's Snowing" using Live 4.1.2, a few instrument plug ins Live's audio fx.

There are 8 stereo audio tracks and 3 MIDI tracks. The clips on the audio tracks were made in live and then exported to keep processing to a minimum for performance purposes. On one of the three MIDI tracks are are 7 short piano phrase, each in a clip, that range in length from 1 to 5 bars.

Most clips have rule-based actions assigned determining whether the clip is repeated, stopped or the next or previous clip is played. Once started my involvement is concerned with, very roughly, shaping the overal length and arrangement as the clips trigger.

It is the first track I have made entirely within Live (which normally I use for performance playback purposes) and I enjoyed the process considerably. So much so, that I am serously contemplating moving away from my current package and doing everything with Abelton.

The track is called I Think It's Snowing and it's on http://www.myspace.com/kenpeel
