How quiet is your studio ?

What does your sound level meter read after the music ends?
With the amplifiers on, computer fans on, and a bit of street noise from the window, mine reads 51 dB.

Noise is healthy for a track, makes it feel alive, I don't even close my windows on most if my sessions anymore. I got songs with birds tweetin an stuff.

Only in Jamaica... "three little birds, sat on my doorstep." it's Jamaica Queens, but anything that reminds me of the island of Jamaica and not the cubicle I'm in now...
I don't know what my noise level is, probably similar to yours. I don't do much open air mic recording.

uhhhh. zero.
If you're seeing your meters outputing 51dB when you're not playing any music, something is not right. Unless you've got a live mic in the room, or I'm just not understanding what you're meaning. what meters are you talking about?, meters on a mixer or something that are post computer, pre-monitors? anyways sounds a bit strange, and if you're mastering (not professionally) who cares
, 51 is bad for a studio, but not too bad for an apartment/house or something

Let's see...
Computer fan, air co fan or heat clicking, toilet flushing, baby crying, dog barking, the sound of my own breathing when I have allergies...
Probably around -20dB.

mine is pretty quite
my computer is in the machine room(closet in other room)
but the house i rent, is not properly grounded, and there is a radio tower on the hill behind my house.
This makes for some rf interference in my monitors. sometimes it is just a very audible hum, and sometimes it results in me actually hearing some radio on my speakers.
I hate it, and am moving soon
anyway, my studio is a little noisy

yes to your second one. It is a cheap radioshack digital sound level meter with built in microphone device set in C weighting.
going further; say I am monitoring a track listenning roughly at 85 dB SPL.
85 minus 51 is 34. (51 is the reading when music is off)
does that mean that 34 dB is the signal to noise ratio I am listenning at ? That would suck.
