I've been having a really bad time with distortion and crackle on some clips that I've been recorded in the session view.
There didn't appear to be any good reason for this. (It never happened on the demo by the way!)
I changed the default file type from AIFF to WAV and haven't had the problem since.

the problem may reside in the fact that you recorded your clips too loud, so digital clipping occured. That's why you hear crackle and click. You should always check your meters... never go higher than -0.3dB. Cuz when the loudness reach 0dB, clipping occurs...
or maybe it's because you did some normalization on your samples and you didn't know how to use the NORMALIZE tool...
