help exporting in live to live ... live

Let me clarify. I want to export a resampled loop from ABLETON live to SERATO SCRATCH live while ABLETON is playing... What I can do is resample what I've got onto a clip (002 1 Audio.wav for example) - I then want to import that clip into serato. However, most times the file is in use (by ableton) so I can't load it into serato. At the moment, serato crashes when this happens. Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on how we can UNLOCK the file handler so that Serato can load the clip WHILE Abelton is playing

Hope that makes sense... Any help would be great... :?:

I can't not even copy files which are used by ableton in another explorer window, the computer says "the file is currently in use by another application blah blah" I guess there is no way to copy "busy" files but someone correct me please if am i wrong.

sorry for so many posts,

download http://www.fridge.net.au/live/saveas.exe

set this as your audio editor in Live.

in the clip properties when you hit the "EDIT" button, it will ask you what you want to save the file as... choose a name and then this file will be a copy of the file you wish to export to your other program.

good luck and let me know if you have any problems.

nope :?

in order to EDIT, Live has to stop all audio. This is unacceptable!

:(

hey drjonez..bummer

i do have a solution for ya though.. you said that you tried copying the file in the background but couldnt because it said the file is in use.

while live is playing, after you resample the clip, take note of the reampled clips name, then delete it from the session view. this should free up the file to be copied.

no that doesn't work either. You can delete the whole track and it will unlock the file. annoying. I also don't like the idea of having to resample.

thats odd
i tried it again and it worked for me..

i set up two channels, one with a loop playing back and the other with the input set to 'resampling'.

i played my loops and then resampled into the first track... while the clip was in there it wouldnt copy, but when i deleted it, it would copy.

sorry to make you try and beat a dead horse, but fiddle some more perhaps because it definately worked for me and if it's not for you maybe we can find a reason why.
