just like on many groove devices or midi tracks muting doesnt clip the sample, it will usually silence the next event. Not so with live audio. How about volume envelope attatched to mute command .ie fade in fade out audio possibly with envelope settings. for jamming into arrangement or for live use, it makes sense doesnt it.

err, not really...
what do you mean, and what is a "next event" on an audio file?
you can use dummy clips to create volume enveloppes that can be processed over different clips.

dummy clips ? you lost me there. Say you got drum pattern on audio track , playing live, having some kind of integrated volume envelope with mute function would sound friendlier than than the current setup cos a snare ,hh whatever is often suddenly clipped. I dont believe this to be the case with midi tracks though. just an idea you understand, it still makes sense to me..

i don't understand what you mean by this. what is "clipped" inthis context?
search for "dummy clips" though, it might help you.
i think there's something about it in the sticky on the "tips & tricks" forum.
good luck.

I have with the same problem.
My new Live performance is loop based and I would like to mute track on and off without clipping. so with a small envelope.
Don't have the answer for now, but I'm sure there something to do about it

actually, I've been checking mutes on version 9 and they sound pretty good.
I know this was a problem in older version, but I think I'll have a go at it like this and see if its good enough on a loud soundsystem.

Sounds like you mean simply a short fade in and fade out of mute instead of the harsh cut to silence.
I like the idea, though I doubt they'd implement it, but + 1
