Hi folks,

we just uploaded another beta version of the upcoming Live update/upgrade 5.2.
This beta is free for every user.

With this beta version we are now really close to the final release of
Live 5.2. Because of the lack of available ReWire capable applications
and existing 2.4 VST plug-ins we still expect compatibility problems.

If we will run into these kind of problem we will take care for sure
but we also want to accommodate to the big numbers of users asking when the final
Live 5.2 will be released finally.

On Windows and OS X (Power-PC) you can unlock this beta with your
Live 5 serial number.

On OS X (Intel) or if you do not own Live 5 you can unlock this beta version
using the beta serial number provided on the beta website.

Check the beta website to download the version: www.ableton.com/beta

Please send all beta related feedback to [email protected].

Current version: Live 5.2b9
Expire date: 2006-04-07

This beta versions has these limitations:
- No manual is included
- No content is included
- No japanese language support is included

This version has enabled our bug reporter.
You will notice it when restarting Live after experiencing a crash.

Furthermore the Windows version has additional debug code to dump
information into the log file. Therefore the Windows version is a bit
slower as the final version (something between 5% to 15%).

When starting live 5.2b9 for the first time it should open with the Beta
lesson which also contains the change log.

Kind Regards,
Alex

Yey... Yet another BETA... :(
Are You trying to set the record for number of BETA's..?
At that rate we'll be testing BETA version 6 before 5.2 comes out...

Yes, heaven forbid it would be as stable as possible before it was released. 8O

in the meantime...

Has anyone got 5.0.3 running smoothly on a MacBook Pro? I thought it would be at least usable running non-native. I just got the MacBook Pro, so I'm anxious to start using it.

Thanks!

could anyone making sad smileys in reference to the beta phase of 5.2 please tell me what it is that's upsetting them ?

the beta is free, and fully functional.

i hated -paying- for live5 as soon as it was released and running into bugs that really thwarted the workflow I was accustomed to from working with my housemates live4.14 (uneven loops....took f-ing ages to be rectified, whilst introducing other problems in the meantime)

i'd have beta tested and given full reports of all these problems happily if I hadnt paid for it, as it turned out I did it unhappily for a while before getting fed up.

so the way I see it is, long beta phases is a good thing. but anyway thats just my opinion, back to the question at hand.....whats upsetting about a lengthy beta phase ? maybe I'm missing something obvious....

ok, well, i am undoubtedly prone to guzzling the koolaid, but... 5.2b9 windows version is definitely a little slower, but there is something subtly 'better' about it.
