Hello!

Anyone know how to do this?

I've got a tune that starts in 4/4 at about 80 bpm, and it needs to go to 3/4 at 130 bpm or so. Kind of a Beatles-esque song.

Right now I've been doing it by recording into the linear arrange view, copying and pasting the clips I want into session view as a clip, editing the clip to make sense musically, then playing the clips and re-recording into arrange view, then RE-editing the clips so that they dont have a slight pause between parts.

It pretty much works but it's a huge pain. Somewhat of a NOOB, so don't hurt my feelings. hahaha! Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

ps I used to use Cubase and I thought the learning curve was terrible. I used Pro Tools in school, but I can't afford to spend thousands of dollars for only 4 preamps (I have a Presonus Firepod with 8 preamps for half the price of the cheapest Protools setup).

Unfortunately, changing time signatures mid-song isn't possible. There are workarounds, such as doing the whole song in 1/4. Hopefully, this will be rectified in Live 6.

In Arrangement View's Master Track, you can automate the song tempo.

I see you are using breakpoints to vary the tempo. Well maybe I can use my music teacher knowledge to mathmatically figure out how to do that in 1/4. Good idea and thanks so much!

guess I'll contact Ableton and let them know about the problem. As a progressive songwriter I am rarely in 4/4 the entire song!

The tempo is in beats per minute, so the time signature becomes irrelevant. 80bpm in 4/4 is the same as 80bpm in 1/4.

It's more difficult to count measures in 1/4 when the song is really in 3/4 or 4/4, but placing markers where you want the tempo to change can help.

Varying the time signature is on the wishlist from the Abes. I told them personally!
