i'm trying to understand how you guys are using the eq 4 in a dj situation. i just can't get my head around how you relate it to a normal 3 band dj eq. if anybody out there has got a minute to go into how you are using it i would really be in your debt. all the posts that i can find talk about hi pass/low pass modes etc. but i think since you guys have a lot of experience you don't get too deep into it when you post, so it all goes right over my head.

I use EQ 4 in the master channel with a compressor just to make my sound "fat", as I make a lot of my music live I need the same sound to all the tracks, loops and samples, when I want to play around with EQ's high, mid or low, use the Kaosspad 's filters, flangers, etc. :D

I don't DJ out, but when I've set up those kinds of sets, I use EQ3 and map the Freq Low, mid and Freq hi settings, leaving the low and hi set all the way up/down.

I would imagine more people use EQ3 than EQ4 in a DJ situation, it's more traditional and straightforward.

I think montrealbreaks or adamjay did a thread on it, Hoffman2k may even have put it in the tips/tricks sticky

but basically you are using 1 and 4 as hi pass and lo pass and then use 2 and 3 to flatten them out so that the Q peaks of 1 & 4 are only present once you sweep out of 2 or 3's area of effect - so 2 and 3 have the gain cut by maybe -8db and the Q about half way - then for 1 and 4 have the Q about 2/3 of the way - then I set the 1st knob on my UC33 to the Freq of 1 then the second knob to the Q of 1 then the 3rd knob to the freq of 4 - ideally I'd have a Q for 4 too but I only have 3 knobs! :(

play about with it thought to see how you like it but that's the jist of it

i just use eq3 instead as a kill switch for lo, med, and his. i dont even turn the knobs but i do make slight adjustments on the three tracks of audio.

like track 1 might be brighter tunes so i just slightly lower the meds or his, and track 3 might be for darker tunes i need to bring up so i just slightly raise the mids and his.

if i had more knobs i might assign them however, this is sort of a workaround.
