My god, it's a miracle. When leopard comes out, I'm definitely springing for an intel mac now.

wow, if it comes to be that 3d software will work as efficiently on a mac machine as on a PC , I may pick up the next mactel quadstyle workstation instead of the pc equivilant I was thinking of getting later this year

can any of the tech-heads speculate on how existing windows virus/backdoors/trojans/malware/etc/etc/etc might or might not work when running on a mactel machine.....

this seems like a great idea, but what about the dumbasses who've got dodgey viruses and dont know it, what happens if they install their virus infected .exe onto their mactel windows OS ? ...I suppose it just fucks the install of windows and doesnt permeate throughout the other OS's....unless they write malware for doing just that ? which would make the windows install a convieniant orifice for these shitheads to pass through....or maybe not, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Unless it's specifically written to target OSX through Windows, nothing will change.

windows will always be windows, you can trash your macintel with viruse and
backdoors the same way you can any other machine running windows.

Huh? You can run the windows version if you boot in windows and the OSX version if you boot in OSX.

really dont care much for running windows but i know some peeps out there who do, who enjoy some specific windows only apps.

macs can now be an everyday computer.

a lot of work apps dont run on macs, now they do.

i know lots of musician who still have full time jobs that require window computers, now they can have it all.

lucky for those guys who made windows run on the mactel's for an underground cash-prize....what did they net, like 15 grand ? ....wasnt exactly a long time ago either...



i got an imac mactel as a performance machine for gigging, was gonna pick up a pc as a studio workstation so I could use some pc apps I couldnt live without......this meant not being able to use pci cards with some mac apps, like logic, that I would have loved to do.....now its possible, great.....all the benefits of mac hardware and 3 year support, and complete software coverage.....I cant ask for anything more then that in terms of computer hardware

now what they need to do is, when they get the quad core mactels, figure out a way to boot up both osx and xp at the same time, each using one dual processor a piece. you could run everything you wanted in osx and have the xp running gigasampler or fruity loops! oh man, i haven't used fruity loops in years.

this could work out very well for windows too....a whole new range of quality computers can now support their software.......will microsoft drop the ball in terms of ironing out problems on their side ? will developers make allowances for any possible problems running their windows software on xp via a mactel ?
