MISSING 1ST BEAT OF BAR ON PLAYING AUDIO IN VIA REWIRE-DEM0

Hi there,
I am a DEMO user who is trying Ableton out to see what it is like and I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I have. I have set the audio input to Fruity Loops Studio, which acts as rewire slave device to play programmed drumbeats into Ableton for recording. However everytime I press play on Ableton the first beat of the bar is missing and it always starts off from the second drum beat. I don't know what is causing this and it's quite frustrating.
ANy help would be very appreciated
Cheers
Mark

Alright Mark ..
I think its definately an ableton thing (Same problem under cubase, digi performer)
I have sent ableton so many bug emails about this during beta and spent ages writing out loads of info for them but heard nothing back.
I have managed to figure ways to get around it for now but they are workarounds.
If you want have a look at the posts it may help you (The cubase post is a few pages down now and I think its titled "Rewire Problems with Cubase SX 311" also my friend has been testing it with digi performer and its the same. Theres more under his post "Rewire digital performer" something like that)
If you can Mark, check latest beta and report the bug direct to
[email protected] or support
I am sure if they receive reports from more users of the problem it will help
Good Luck and I hope my post provides you with a workaround for now.

Hello,
There are two things to consider here:
- First is that Live's session view is a quite different if not totally different concept compared to any DAW timeline based views. Therefore, deciding and fixing the way clips in session should react to song positions from other hosts is a tricky task, and not easily answerable.
- The second thing, about "missing first beat": after doing some testings here using FL studio rewired to Live, and then FL studio rewired to Pro Tools, is that some FL studio songs would have a missing note at the beginning, regardless to which application it is Rewired to, and some other songs wouldn't. I get the exact same results in both Live and Pro Tools, which leads me to think it is as much a Rewire issue as it depends on different applications, different sets and systems.
That said, I did some testings Rewiring Live to Pro Tools , and then to Cubase SX 2, and playing back a quite complicated arrangement gave me the same results: it was playing fine from the top, the first beat of the arrangement. It may happen that certain arrangments don't give that result, but I would say it is again more a Rewire thing that a Live issue.
We of course work as to improve things and collect as much information as we can.
Kind regards,
Amaury
