2 questions 1 post!

(a)
when I drag an Aiff or MP3 file into Live5.0.3 the sound gets a bit quirky-jerky.. which was cool with one track and I kept it like that... but I don't want it like that each time I import a file.
Is there a solution to this.. (I have searched here)
I am using Live 5 on a Powerbook G4 Macintosh

(b)
when I want to draw the beats in Impulse... it sometimes draws over the whole scene..
instead of just drawing one beat like this -

I get one big row likethis ––––––––––

what is wrong or what am I doing wrong?

when you draw notes with the pen into a midi clip, it will make notes the length of whatever grid you are set to. is that maybe what's happening for you? (grid set to 1/2, when you want to draw 1/16 notes?)

aha.. okay... I get it...

it is a bit tricky to understand everything in Live... maybe I am to old for this..? : ) but WOW what a great application it is though.

I think I must take lessons to grasp it all...

Saell og blessadur

the quirky jerky thing sounds like a warping issue - you should be able to find something in the manual - from the description i cant get an idea of exactly what is happening

Try using re-pitch in warp mode...... I have had exactly the same problem..... sounds terrible with beats mode, better with complex, but CPU hungry and fingers crossed spot on with re-pitch. Let me know if this helps
