I had not heard of this group until your post.
GSBE is the acronym for the band that I began over 10 years ago called The Guy Smiley Blues Exchange. You can hear our psychafunkadoobalicious grooves at our website:

When I listen back to this music, I hear a band of composers fresh out of music university and trying to push the 20th century classical techniques into a jazz/funk band. I still love that material. We don't perform as much as we should anymore but we all continue to live in Nashville. We have recently created a Tower of Power tribute band, trying to stay very close to the original sound of the band in the '70s. You can hear some of this group's live performances at

perhaps you could add more edge to your music?
bring the sounds more upfront perhaps.
It´s just not my style; I think (a bit too smooth)
I´ve played jazz for years (18 years) and nowadays I want it harder!
but in the style it´s pretty good I guess
