Just read an article about Jamie Lidell @ Sonar as one of the better performances overthere , mentionning his human scratch/beatbox resampling technique etc ... just wondered if anyone was there and could make up what he was using gearwise ... [Live ?]

[Just read in another interview he vows by a mixture of hardware gear & laptops ... if anyone knows more on the subject always interested to learn ... ]

i helped fix his broken pa a couple of months ago. He had an electribe of some sort. powerbook g4 , borrowed mackie mixer never seen what software he was using though.

I saw his performance at Sonar, but it was not very easy to see what he was using (and i'm not that geeky to climb on stage to check the gear).
It looked like he was using some old analog stuff (Korg MS-style). I'm not sure he was using a laptop though. Maybe an MPC and one or the other real-time sampling thing.

But the show was indeed one of the few good ones at Sonar. It's sad to see Sonar became a commercial circus. I remember the days when there were about 8000 people going to Sonar. This year, they've reached 100000 and probably more...
