is there a way to apply audio FX in live to midi channels??

I was readin on the simpler I think it was and it says it imputs midi and outputs audio....is there a way to use this device as nothing more that a "pass through" type of effect where I can simply pass my midi data in and have it export as audio to then apply the audio fx to it?? ....but then the midi data probably wouldnt be able to return to the midi synth...right...cause its now audio????

Do you mean like dragging a reverb over any midi channel?

If so.....yes.......just drag in over the track (there are a couple of areas where it won't work, usually I drop it over the track name myself...)

Impulse is a software instrument. Instruments take midi and makes audio out of it. Software audio effects takes audio and makes cooler audio out of it. Software midi effects take midi and makes other midi from it.

Now that you know what goes in and comes out of each type, you can probably figure out what order to put stuff in on each track.

right....got that...but the midi effects are NOTHING like the audio effects...basically if I record midi into live from an external synth ...before it routes the midi back to the synth can I add something like reverb in Live....im seeing that I cant but I just want to know if I am missing something...

Midi is only note information (sort of, almost). Play note C3 this hard..wait...release. Play note E3..wait...release. Etc. There is no sound in midi. You can't put reverb on that. This is why you can take the same midi information and play it on different synths or with different sounds.

Audio effects like reverb needs audio in. If you want to put reverb on an external synth you need to get the audio from that synth into Live. If you have a soundcard with audio in, you can do just that. Or you can use a software synth where the audio is already "inside Live".
