sends pre/post buttons not midi assignable?

perhaps someone could show me another way to do what im doing
send A is a delay
send A's pre/post button is set to pre
send A output is set to master
so, track is playing, volume out to master
i bring up volume of send A, layering original sound with the delay
then i drop the original track out, leaving the delay to playout alone
then i quickly hit the pre/post button, to switch it to post, causing send A to no longer receive the signal, and so the delay ends, playing out on its own, like this hollow echo into nothing.
it sounds great, but i have to use the mouse to toggle the pre/post button as it doesnt appear to be midi assignable
is there another way to acheive this effect ? or is there a way to assign those two pre/post buttons?
im using a bcf, if that matters.
thanks
