Live crashing during playback

I'm voicing a huge midi set (64kb:) for a friend of mine's art show on friday and live keeps crashing. just upgraded to 5.2 and the problem has not gone away. the set has four simpler instr. and one reaktor 5 instr. and max cpu usage of 20%. playback will be fine with no skips, spikes or dropouts and then ableton just crashes. it doesn't crash at a particular point. crash only.
in addition, i'm noticing that neither reaktor 5 nor arturia minimoog are being cooperative in holding whatever preset i select. they keep switching back to the default preset as if the program has just been opened. i can change the preset during playback but as soon as i stop and start again it moves back to the default preset. this is very frustrating as it seems to be an ableton problem. it's not liking my vsts?
