as a drummer is it possible for to tap out a tempo using a control surface that will change the tempo of ableton as i tap it out? i would like to be playing along with ableton , tap the new tempo of the whole shebang on one of my control surfaces , and presto! the tempo of abelton and the whole nine yards changes according to the tempo i just tapped out. i current use a yamaha dtextreme 2 as the my electric drum brain. i may also incorporate a roland spd 20 in the future if i think it will facilitate this whole desired outcome that i seek.

you can assign any midi controller to the tap button.

also you might check out this In Time software which hambone1 is experimenting with. it will keep the computer synced up with your playing as you change tempos

How about midi mapping a controller for tempo up and temo down? I'd like to set 2 controller pads so one can move the tempo up 1 BPM and the other can bring it down 1 BPM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Dan

you might be able to do that with bome. if the tempo is selected, then the arrow keys will increase/decrease the tempo by 1. so if you can get a controller to output 2 consecutive keystrokes, there you go

i think there's an even easier way of doing it:

Assign the tap tempo to a controller number, and set the method to relative - you want the kind that increments with value 127 and decrements with 0 (urgh, can't remember which!)

Next, you assign a midi pad to transmit the controller number and value 127 - and it will increment, etc.
