i'm having problems with midi mapping. I have the M-Audio 0-2 USB Midi Controller and on it it has 8 nobs C1 - C8 and i try mapping them to the volume of each channel but i can't! well, i can but.. you see the problem is that i click on "MIDI" then everything turn blue like normal. I click on Channel 1's volume and then i move the C1 knob on the M-Audio keyboard and it maps it like it's supposed to but then, i tried mapping Channel 7's volume to the C7 knob and i get a message saying that that knob is already assigned to another Channel!
It turns out that is i map Channel 1(or any) to the C1 knob i am also mapping it to the other knobs. I can controll channel 1's volume with ANY knob on the controller.
Why is it doing this?? It used to not be able to do this. I wan't to map different channel's volume faders to different knobs of the controller.
Please help i just upgraded to Live 5.2

sounds like you're saying that all the knobs are sending the same midi information. i'd recommend veryifying this in some other program, like MidiOx

without knowing anything I would suggest in a friendly manner to look at your manual. I had similar issues earlier on with a different controller, but I looked through the manual and found something that fixed it.
maybe someone else will help more but that's all i got

check to see if all your knobs are assigned to the same CC number. like, if all your knobs, 1-8, are by default assigned to CC# 70 or something, then you will get that message about the control already being assigned and all the knobs controlling the same parameter. i've had that experience on some presets on a trigger finger for example, if two of the pads are assigned to the same note #.
good luck.

hi. i'm still having trouble with this! i go into midi map mode the move knob #1 to controll the volume for channel #1 right? Well, it turns out ALL the knobs on my M-Audio USB Midi controller controll the volume for Channel #1! This is really frustrating!! I have looked through the manual and i can't find an answer. Also, i tried checking what you said but couldn'
t find out how to do it and if that were the case how do i fix the problem?
I know i sound like a total idiot to you guys! Sorry! I hope someone can help me!

Hi SPY,
for me it seems, your O2 controllers are all programmed to the same CC number. You can check this easily by doing the following:
1. Touch one of the knobs by moving it a little bit around.
2. Pressing the "advanced function" Button in the upper left corner of the O2 shows you the CC number of this controller in the display of the O2. (a little dot appears in the display, showing you, that you have activated the programming mode.)
3. Now deactivate the "advanced function" by pressing the buttons again (the little dot disappears.)
Do this with all knobs and you can check if they all have the same controller number. In this case, Live won't be able to differ between them, because they all have the same "name".
To reprogram your O2, you just have to do the first 2 steps mentioned above and activate the "ctrl asgn" mode (the leftmost C# - the first black note from the left). Now use "+" and "-" to de- or increment the controller number of the current knob.
To leave the program mode, just press the "advanced function" button again.
Hope this helps.
