Guitar Looping with an amp

Hey Ableton users,
I use Live to loop my guitar playing like Kid Beyond with his mouth.
Now I want to change my using, because I miss my guitar amp´s sound. I connect my guitar to my interface (896HD) and record my playing. In addition to this I tried to connect my analog out to my amp and wanted to hear my recorded loops. It didn´t work, bullshit. So now it´s your turn, can you tell me why it didn´t work?
Or can you tell me the right way to do hear recorded loops with a guitar amp?
Thankx Elec

um I do this with my bass, live and a traveler.

In live I have one audio track that the bass is coming in on.
That track is set to monitor in and the out is set to sends only.
Next three audio tracks (for loops) are set to monitor the track that the bass is coming in on, outs are also sends only.

All 4 tracks are have the G send all the way up and the G return track is set up to ext. out 8... (meaning the 8 out channel on the traveler, which runs out to the amp) This teturn track also has the h send turned up all the way. The h return track's out is set to master so that the loops are included in the mix.

If you thought that was confusing.... uh the tree tracks that are set up for loops are set to monitor off and have record enabled so that you only here them when they are triggered for playback...

someone posted this setup in the "Tips and Tricks" section with pix and a clearer explaination but I am too lazy to search it.

cheers

EDIT: Here's the above mentioned link...

I think you still have to alter the routing so that you can send out the loops to the amp though, which I chose to do using sends. I'm sure there are other ways too.

Thanks for your help and for the link.
I am able to loop my guitar and do the midi remote things.
My roblem is: How to hear the recorded sounds with my amp?
I connected my analog out (+4 or -10dB?) with my power amp input of my amp and cannot hear anything.
Is this right or is my amp broken?

Oops... I misunderstood you.

I use a tube preamp before the signal goes into the amp.
But even without that I would think you'd be able to pick up some signal.

Not sure what the problem would be...

i am having the same dilema, at the moment ive got one out put from my fx pedal going to the amp & another output going to the computer with the track monitoring as 'off'. this does work but obviously when you play back the loops you only get it coming from the computer, which isn't ideal.
Im not sure why your amp wasnt playing anything, it should've done...but maybe it was a difference in the operating levels of your soundcard output & the amps input.
You could, like you have done, take the computer's output & plug in to an amp, that way all the guitar would be coming out of the amp but then maybe the latency isnt gonna be ideal for live work.
