The cheaper one looks like a better deal to me. The only advantage the other one has is a 2Mb cache.

second one, purely because of the processor, even though you lose a bit on the hard-drive.

Yep.... IMO you could get a faster "duo" M processor, with all round better stuff for the same (advertised) price £699, from dell. Depends on how much of a "good deal" your getting.

I'm going to chime in, being the computer geek that i am...

I'm on a Fujitsu right now... every one of my favorite, and most used laptops have been fujitsu for past 5 years.. i've owned compaq, dell, gateway laptops during that time as well.... Fujitsu is the shit... their support is top notch, they don't use shit parts like Dell, HP, or Sony, and their warrantees are outstanding! The only thing that comes close is Toshiba.

Having said that... you're going to wanna have the 2 mb cache.. it'll speed up your computer considerably.. especially for production.. audio/video/graphics design/gaming... any of those would benefit from 2 mb as compared to 1 mb cache.. Do It!!

Don't.... think that a celeron is better than a pentium m... a celeron is the bottom of the barrel..

And, i'm going to dispell a myth... Refurbished is not bad. Yes, it's cheaper.. but, i've owned tons of machine that have been refurbished.. there are three rules:

1) Make sure you get a MANUFACTURER's warrantee... the original manufacturer's warrantee.. it can be done with a refurbished machine..

2) a Refurbished machine is nothing more than a machine that has been thoroughly quality controlled... all machine go through QC before they get to you... these just happen to have gone through it again... I prefer it that way... All machines can be rebuilt by the manufacturer... they have these parts sitting around in their warehouses.. ready to rebuild a refurbished computer near you.. if something bad happens to your computer, it doesn't matter if it's new or refurbished, it's getting the same treatment.. If it needs a mobo replaced, there you go... bad ram, no sweat... however, this brings me to #3

3) Always, Always, Always, check the warrantee to see what kind of coverage you have on the monitor.. that's the only thing that you should be worried about.. it's the most expensive thing on a laptop, roughly 1/2-2/3's of the price of your machine will be that LCD. Don't fuck it up..

try to find an intelDuo in the same price range. It'll have a lot more longevity.
