i posted this as an answer on another topic. however, checking again, i find this to be a bug really so i repost it here.

you can assign any menu command to a custom keyboard shortcut in osx with the mouse&keyboard control panel… works well for all application exept…
live,
when i assign a combo to an item of the Edit menu for live, the combo shows up behind the command but is only executed if i manually open the menu beforehand.
for example:
•i assign "control-f" to "Freeze Track"
•now in live in the Edit menu i get "Freeze Track <that control symbol here>F" (i can't find that control symbol right now but it's shown correct in the menu)
•now pressing control-F does nothing but flash the Edit menu once.
•only if i click the Edit menu once first, so it is open and THEN type control-F the selected track is froozen…
a bug too bad, since i really miss "Activate/Deactivate Clip(s)" on a keyboard shortcut.
