recording live mixes, HELP!

hi, can anyone please tell me how I can record my mixes live?
It seems as though there should simply be a 'record' button on ableton...am I missing something blatantly obvious? I've had to record onto an external unit from a mixer, which is a faff, frankly. can ableton (or another bit of software (free one!!)) record your dj set live from your computer?
using live 5.1 on mac with os x (not tiger) and a UC33.
any help really appreciated. cheers.

Set one audio track's input to Resample. Arm track, start recording a clip. Everything that comes out on the master out will be recorded as long as you don't press stop/space. There is some upper limit on the file size, probably different for Mac/PC.

Set one audio track's input to Resample
where is a resample option? and one of the audio tracks? would that not just record what ever is playing in that one channel?

anyway, it would seem that Audacity is completely sh_t and I wouldn't recomment it to anyone. doesn't seem to work properly and crashes Ableton. Now trying Audio Hijack Pro...

audio hijack puts an annoying noise over your recorded track after 10 minutes unless you pay. now trying wire tap pro...

I've set one of the 'Audio from' menus to 'resampling', and have pressed 'record'
it seems to only let me use 2 audio channels to mix with, which is strange, and then when I click 'record' again, to finish it doesn't seem to save a AIF file anywhere. I can select 'render to disc', but this asks what length it is?! (bars).
I'm sure this is obvious to you, but I would really appreciate you explaining what to do a bit more? it's driving me crazy. and I'm using Ableton 5.0.1 if that makes any difference.

forget about resampling for a second
is this a mix you're doing with files in ableton?
just hit record and play.
launch your clips from session view (i'm assuming that's what you're doing)
all of this is being recorded in the arrangement view, and you can play it back.
now you can render this arrangement to disc as a single aiff file if you need to.
yes, you can record the master output with 'resampling' but it sounds like to me that the bigger problem here is that you're not yet understanding the relationship between session and arrangement view, and how they function during and after recording. spend a bit of time getting clear on that first.

thanks so much!
yes, I've not really used the arrangement view at all, I'm only really using Ableton to mix with in session. So the only question I have now (I think) is...How do you set the 'span of time' you want to render? I have dragged locators (a,b) to the start and finish, and clicked 'render' but it asks me to set span of time...

once in arramgement view select the length of bars with mouse. then render to disk will confirm the set length
