Hi folks,
it seems that (sometimes) also rumours can be true...
With this posting we announce a beta version of the upcoming Live 2.1 version availabe on our website www.ableton.com/beta
At the beginning of next week there will be an official announcement for the upcoming
Live 2.1 update on our website. The members of the newsletter will be informed too.
The main topics of Live 2.1 are:
===============================================
- ReWire slave support for OS X
- SDII audio file import under OS 9 & OS X
- Support for Direct I/O to access Digidesign audio hardware
- Bugfixes (see below)
Beta restrictions:
===============================================
- Can only be used until the end of July 2003
- just the english language version is available
- No manual
Who can use/test it
===============================================
The beta phase is needed because we had to change some important internals
(from the technical side) to support ReWire slave functionality for OS X.
The Beta version (Live 2.1b1) can be used also by interested people who does not yet use Live so far.
To unlock the Beta version please take a look on the beta website (www.ableton.com/beta).
Where and how to send the beta feedback
===============================================
Please send all beta related feedback to [email protected].
When founding a bug please have the following things in mind as a small check list:
- Is it reproduceable
- If yes, what are the steps to "create" this bug
- Try to reduce as much dependencies as possible (does it happen just with e special song?, or just with a certain audio/midi hardware? or just on a certain computer?,...)
- When sending an email try to include as much informations about your system as possible.
Why comes this version now
===============================================
The main reason for the release of this version now is the support for the ReWire slave
functionality under OS X. It needed so much time because we had to solve several technical
problems. Beside that not the complete ableton team was working on this update.
In fact just some less developers. So you can be sure this update was not all we did
in the last months :-)
For an overview about the contained bugfixes look see http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3869.
sorry for any writing mistakes. We will try to get some sleep now :)
kind regards,
Alex
