clips that just don't play anymore

sounds sort of similar to a prob another feller had on page two, but this isn't crashing my system (Athlon XP 2100, 512mb, M-Audio Delta 44, Win XP)
- when working with a load of samples sometimes (are no specific recogniseable situations since this can occur during long sessions) a clip thats been playing fine will just not play all of a sudden when asked to. It looks like it is playing but no sound will issue (and the faders are up, before you ask). It may be possible that this occurs on channels where I've been recording on, but I don't know that for sure - it just seemed to be the case when it did occur.
could be a problem when trying to look cool bringing in a great beat and at the moment critique nothing happens
any ideas?? btw cheers again oink for that tip on the other thread, going to go try that now.
