Audio Engine is Off using MBox

I just upgraded from Live Digidesign Edition 5.0.5 to Live 5.2.

For Live Lite, I was able to use the M-box as my Audio device using Direct I/O as my driver.

It was my understanding that the full version of Live uses Core Audio as it's driver, and when I choose that and keep the "Built in Audio" as my choice for In/Out device, Live runs fine. "Digidesign M-box" does appear as a choice under the Device drop down in Live Preferences but when I choose it, I get an error message saying "Audio is Off. Please choose audio device".

I have repaired permissions and run DiskWarrior on all my drives, trashed prefs for Live, re-installed CoreAudio version 6.9, and re-installed Live - all to no avail.

I've also looked through these forums and Digi's forums - seems like it should be a simple solution but I can't get it to work. Any suggestions?
