Ableton Forum

Greetings,

I've just recently played my first ever Ableton set; made it for a 1920s themed party in an underground cellar. It was fantastic fun playing live and went down a storm, much to my own surprise!

Its pretty different stuff, I think: Mr Scruff being the obvious other person who's used bits of 1920s, but this is much more riff-based.

This one was really fun - taking Gershwins's fantastic rhapsody in Blue's first bars, slowly whipping it up into a trancy track. (Great quote from Waking Life in there too...)

This is just the sort of thing I always dreamed of doing - taking loops and transforming them into other things, blending between them. Ableton's so, so good at doing this. I still can't quite believe I can do it all on one laptop!

Oh, forgot to mention - I use the fantastic Fxpansion Guru software drum machine. Take a look if you haven't come across it...
