autowarp/mp3/macintel/5.2/starts at wrong position

I tried to post this with [email protected] but I either was not clear, or was not connecting in some way.

I want to stress again that I have photos in case there is some question

unlike 5.2 on windows, macintel is loaded mp3's very VERY wrong

My specs, imac 2.0ghz core duo, motu traveler (but it does it on the internal soundcard as well), 1.5 gig ram, osx 10.4.6, live 5.2

It helps to have a pc for comparison......soundcard and samplerate is irrelevent......

To reproduce

1. open a new live set
2. drag/drop or any method of your choice a full mp3 song. If you can, do it on a pc AND a macintel
3. wait for the sample convert and look at the warp markers

The result on the macintel is that there are negative numbers from about the begining of the song until the middle (although it varies some) and since "1" is around the middle of the song, that is where it starts.....which is of course......incorrect.

On the pc, same song, the results are what you expect.....somewhere around the dead begining of the song

reproducable, 100%

and once again, I have photos to prove what I'm talking about.......if anyone needs to see them

Hello eyeknow,

I saw you message in the support Inbox and we are investigating the issue. Very probably, that has to do with the mp3 decoder on the two machines being different.

You can see which decoder is used in the log file, at the very beginning. If you are not too sure about it, please send me the log file for your Windows computer and for you Intel mac.
We'll do some testing in the office then.

Kind regards,

Amaury

Hi,

You'll find these in those folders:

* Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Ableton\Live 5\Preferences
* Mac OS X: /Library/Preferences/Ableton

Kind regards,

Amaury

I cannot find the proper pc files.

this one is a laptop that is in demo mode (I never really use it) but it's very recent

The other pc is boxed up (yep, I am dedicated to macintel, regardless of time constraints.....)

Hi again,

The "Local settings" folder is hidden by default on Windows, you have to go to "Folder Options" from the Tools menu in Windows explorer, Display pane, and choose "Show hidden files and folders".

Best,
Amaury
