Converting from PC => Macbook Pro.

Hello all.
Posting a new thread after a long time. I recently had an experience, I'd like to share.

I was doing a gig live in NYC a few days ago, for "cinco de mayo" , using LIVE 5 on a PC. The system crashed with the "blue screen of deatch" after 90 mins. :(

This was quite dissapointing, and I still can't get my machine working. Lucky for me I had backups, I guess.

I'm posting this thread, out of desparation, and I have confidence, you fantastic LIVE pros and musicians might be able to help me.

I'm now definitely converting from a PC to Macbook Pro (17') and I have following questions. Please pardon if any questions might sound stupid, but I'm going to be a new convert. :D . So, if someone can help me with these please ?

1. I have many VST plugins, that I use for Mastering, and playing, and also in LIVE Master channel. Can VST plugings be usedon a Mac, or are they for Windows only ?

2. For mastering, I am currently using SOUNDFORGE 8.0. What is the best sofware on MAC for track editing, and mastering ?

3. Can Logic Express 7.2 be used for mastering, editing tracks already made ?.

4. I still use a UC-33e Midi controller. Can that be used directly, connecting to a USB port ?.

5. And very importantly. Since I'd play uncompressed files, I'm wondering, if LOGIC EXPRESS can open, edit play 24-bit AIFF files.

Thank you all.

Cheers!
Pippins.

1. Your VSTs or AU's must be compatible with Apple's Universal Binary.

2. Saturator and Compressor II? I have no clue, mastering bores me!

3. I dunno, I'm sure you can import your rendered files from Live, it's just up to what you want to do to them in Logic.

4. I think so, if not, M-Audio will have a driver.

5. Looks like it can according to this chart:
