Forgive a newbie, I searched the forums but I didn't find the answer...

I know I must be missing something obvious, but:

I've got the simpler in a midi track, I drag a sample into the simpler, then mess with it using the simpler controls but... how do I trigger the sample in the simpler?? There's no sample in the track, just in the simpler. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for your help!

make a MIDI clip (by double clicking where you would normally drop an audio clip in the MIDI channel), select the clip and draw in the notes like you would with any VSTi !! (where the audio sample would usually be shown when you select an audio clip.

Thanks, but how does that play the portion of the clip that I've selected using this simpler?

in the midi clip you can draw the notes using the pencil tool or use a midi controller keyboard/drum pads or i think u can assign notes to your computers keypad

Are you missing that the track has to be armed?

It doesn't have to be armed.

Just drop Simpler into a MIDI track in Session view (choose a preset for simplicitys sake), double click an empty cell to create a empty MIDI clip.

Select the clip so it shows in the bottom part of the screen, draw in a few notes with the pen and launch the clip.

But it sounds like you need a basic primer in VSTs and MIDI in general. Try searching for it on Google.

You're right of course.
Thanks for helping me overcome my controller-centric worldview. :)
