ReMOTE SL users.... does this happen to you?

Hey,
When I assign one of the 8 velocity sensitive pads on my ReMote 25 SL controller to anything in Live 5.2, a strange thing happens. Firstly, when i click midi (or CTRL-M) to turn off midi mapping mode, a piano note (or notes, depending on how many pads i assigned) plays. then from there on, when I hit a pad, it does what i assigned it to do, plus it plays a piano note (it actually only happens every two times i hit a particular pad). At the simplest, I've boiled it down to happening in a new standard Live file, with the leftmost pad assigned to "track activator" (above solo button) on track 1 (audio).
Does this happen to anyone else?
The midi key assignment label that comes up on the screen when the pads are assigned is "1/C1" through "1/G1" depending on which pad, if this helps.
How can I stop this frustrating behaviour?
Thanks in advance!!
