Syncing Problem. Can Someone Please Help Me?

Hello,
I like to record raw tracks on a standalone DAW. I want to then edit them in Ableton. I imported the tracks using midi sync between my DAW and my computer. That went fine, but I don't understand how to get the Ableton's metronome to play my song at the origional tempo!
The tune has a tempo of 82 BPM but when I set the Ableton metronome to 82 it reduces the original tempo. I tried turning off the warp function in the clip view -- didn't work.
Since I synced the tracks coming over, the individual tracks are lined up with themselves. I am hoping to use the tempo markers to edit some of the clips....anyway, like that. I've read everything I can find in the manual.
What do I do to make Ableton believe I'm at 82 -- the original tempo of my recording?
Thanks,
T
