I'm using Live lite 4 Line 6 edition and i can't hear any midi sounds the midi sounds on my pc are working but not in ableton.
Can anybody help me?(if you need more info just say what)

is there a synth in the track?

You need a virtual instrument.

Go to devices at the upper left of your screen

Select Instruments

Impulse is a drummer, there are other things as well...explore.

Select whichever one you want...then it should work.

Are you talking about the general midi instruments? If so, I can't help, but this clarification may be useful to other people that can.

im having similar problem with live....im using simpler as part of the device chain...and can even see signals flickering...but no sound...would really appreciate some help...cheers

I have the same thing.
I see the signal. but no sound.
If I output midi into another app like Modul8, it works. But in Live I hear no midi sound.
Audio file like .aiff is OK.
When set up Live is there anything we are missing?

Live doesn't ouput midi sound without an instrument on the midi track!

drag for example a simpler or impulse into the midi track > sound!

Yes. It is understood. The indicator before midi instrument is active, but not after it. I am talking the lower middle field where you drop instruments and effects.
The same thing is with Live4 and 5 and in two different Macs. So I still have a feeling that I miss some step in my setup.
I have tryed to confugure midi inputs and outputs, but no result.
Anything else I could try.

On the MIDI track view window(on low right where you see the instrument and effects) there is a vertical strip indicator what shows/blinks clip play. On each insert there is a one on both side . So inserted MIDI effect has blinking bar on both side, but the instrument right side does not blink.

I went back to the tutorial and doing setup step by step found a problem.
I had not used Live much and forgot to select a preset sampler on the instrument. MIDI tutorial page 3.
Silly that I wasted almost a day to puddle around.
