Some other problems live: tonight when I tried to start some songs I got a delay (a second...?) when hitting the startbutton. (the drummer wasn't too happy with this). I couldn't really figure out why while I was playing, but to make sure it wouldn't happen again I disabled the reverb in the next sessions (instinct because I know on pro-tools this eats CPU) ..it didn't happen anymore afterwards.
The issue is that I'm only using 8 to 10 tracks, only 2 or 3 plugins (not on every track, just on the sends and a little compression on the drum-master output). I'm running Mac OS X on a G4-Powerbook 1Ghz/512 Ram (soon I'll have 512 extra) so I can't believe I 've reached the limit here already

...anyone any advice 'bout this??

what kind of soundcard? believe it, from what i've read of post, that seems to be near the limit for a mac based system like that. A quality soundcard and an external 7,200 RPM firewire drive for y our audio files can really help track/effect counts, as can the extra RAM on the way. If you read these forums you'll see pcs have higher track.effect counts, and some of the good mac dudes prefer os9--though neither of these helps you. but the firewire hard drive and pcmcia soundcard (or firewire) could.
